I am sorry that dragonflies scare you. They truly are very nice creatures. The females appear to have a stinger, but that is not what it is, it is the way they lay their eggs. If one gets close to you and you shoo it away, it does not get defensive like a yellow jacket or a bee. It will not come back and get you. They are really very gentle souls. I hope this helps.
