May

Once upon a time I blogged daily ,now I can only manage once a month and even then I do not have much to say.

May started with the annual Pirate Festival in Brixham, Devon http://www.brixhampiratefestival.co.uk/ This is growing each year with many travelling a long way to join in the fun.

Two weeks later we went back down to Brixham for Brixfest which celebrates Brixhams heritage.

Brixham is famous for its sailing trawlers which were built in the town, and are now being restored and added to the heritage fleet.

of interest to my New England friends the Mayflower replica in Plymouth Massachusetts, was also built in Brixham  and our home is built on the site of the original shipyard.

The Fairmile was a WW11 Boat which now does cruises around the bay and to the Greenway Mansion where Agatha Christie once lived.

Turning Green

In lots of ways we are turning green, the solar panels I mentioned last time are up and running and it is great to see the power being generated ,even on a overcast day.

Nature is also beginning to show her green side.

We are in the process of clearing my parents very small cottage, which is proving to be a mammoth task,  this has had to be brought forward as my Father after visiting my Mother in the care home came home and fell down the stairs and broke his leg,so he has been in a separate care home for several weeks. I CANNOT believe how much has been packed into the one bedroomed cottage, every nook and cranny filled with five decades of trash and treasure.

How can it be possible that at one time ,five of us lived in this tiny building.

I found several dolls ,which really should have been headed for the bin,

Yesterday we went to Tyntesfield House

http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/tyntesfield/

It is only about twenty minutes from my house, and this was my first visit, isn't it strange  how we travel to visit other countries  but don't always search out the gems on our doorstep.

Little people were given the chance to dress up,but no camera flash was allowed so it was difficult to take photos.

I am sure Miss X would look the part in Downton Abbey, do they except  two and a half year old scullery maids.

Or perhaps she should stick to being a ice cream tester

And even as we were leaving Miss X still had the energy to chase a ball.

Just to even things out I should post a few more photos of Mister M he seems to get missed out

It has taken me about 3 hours to write this seeing that I  have some how messed up my photo filing ,or I should say made it worse I have never grasped the whole album thing ,and I seem to have the same photos in several different files. And I  also think some may have been deleted by mistake, I really must make a supreme effort to get to grips with it.
