MORE FISH AND 5 BIRDS

Wet if mild day which was brightened considerably by the arrival of fish and birds. The fish were two more sets of ATCs  both from the USA .  Cindy had created 3 very colourful cards on foam board which I had not seen used before but actually was a perfect base..The cards are painted in vibrant colours using acrylic, ink,  and watercolours very bright and cheerful for a wet day.

Cindy had also decorated the envelope so the Postman was smiling as he handed them over.

The other set was from Ruth who is also in the USA

Ruth has used mixed media including a hand carved stamp which is excellent  alcohol inks and watercolours. It may not be obvious from the photo but the top fish on each card is made from vellum. They are finished off with embellishments and metallic micro pens.

Ruth is well known on our community site      http://milliande.ning.com               for making and giving away cranes. I was the lucky recipient of one a couple of years ago and today I received another in with her cards. They are wonderful and the story which goes with them is very touching.

It was quite strange that Ruth's crane arrived on the same day as my 5 birds I had wished for from Maki

Maki is making 1000 of these to raise money for Japan and I was so pleased to receive them.

Each one is numbered .

I managed to finish my ATCs for the swap Liz is hosting  Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History

I had to think long and hard about this as I think Liz was thinking more of particular women but I decided to do my own thing as usual and came up with this.

I layered the cards with personal adverts from the paper and the printed and cut out a vintage image .I rubber stamped the eyes and lips and and added Ranger Glossy Accents to the shoes and eyes to add dimension.

Just one last photo for the dog lovers a young Rottweiler puppy tied up by the Post Office when I posted out the three swaps mentioned yesterday.

  1. Yay...I cheated and got to see your Naughty Girls ATC's before they arrived in the mail. They are perfect!! I'm glad you did your own thing. You captured the prompt perfectly. Love her seamed hose!

P.S. cute puppy...I can smell the sweet puppy breath all the way from California!

  2. Nice blog, Mary! Thanks for posting the photos, and I'm so glad they arrived. I just happened to have foam board left over, so I cut it into ATC sizes. You do have to gesso it first, but it's so nice and light-weight whilst still being rigid.
